I wanted to do an out of the box donut flavor when I decided on key lime.
I made these twice, and they were an absolute hit both times. I perfected the recipe the second time- changing out the icing I made and the texture of the batter. And I must say, I was pretty pleased with the results. One lady thought I'd ordered them from a fancy donut bakey!
A perk to my donuts versus a donut shop, is that my donuts are baked, and not fried. I'm working on a clean donut batter, but it's still in the works. Nobody wants to eat a rubbery donut! 😖
These donuts are made with a light lime donut batter with a divine, tart and zesty lime icing. In my opinion, the icing is really what brings it all together. I only had two lines on hand, but I found that to be sufficient for a dozen donuts.
