I really hate the mundane, so I needed to figure out a cool gift to give my dads: my dad, my father-in-law, and my grandfather-in-law. I wanted to to give them a gift they would not only be able to use, but they would love. And of course, they all loved their Father's Day Gifts!
The way to a man's heart is through his stomach, eh?
SO, what I came up with was a manly picnic-like basket of desserts- it was up to them if they wanted to share with their wives or not (lol).
Everything you see is made from scratch. From left to right we have:
Peach tea concentrate
I couldn't find a reasonably priced jar to put my peach tea in, that also matched my colors, so I had to improvise. What did I do? I went to Dollar Tree, bought 3 jars of applesauce, poured the applesauce out (it was way too much for us to eat before going bad), and cleaned the jars. Since these were going to family members, it wasn't a big deal that I took that route. Just mix water and you're on your way! It has to stay refrigerated because there are real peach slices in there.
Cheesecake Truffles
These must also stay refrigerated. I used mini cupcake liners to make them look a little more elegant. The batter is basically my cheesecake recipe, minus the eggs, and using powdered sugar to keep them from being grainy. I let them set in the fridge, and then rolled them around in graham cracker crust.
Peanut Butter Bars
I had so many of these left over from the batch, my husband and I ate them as clean snacks. These chewy bars are made of oatmeal, peanut butter, honey, and chocolate. I let them set in the fridge, but they don't really harden. But they were very good, and offset the sweetness of the other items.
Walnut Brownies
I really hate dry, hard brownies, so I made these moist. For best results, warm in the microwave, and serve aside a scoop of ice cream.
